Germany, Wehrmacht. A War Merit Cross, I Class With Swords Hold dated 21 February 1926(Kriegsverdienstkreuz I. Klasse mit Schwertern). Constructed of silvered tombak, consisting of a Maltese Cross, the obverse with pebbled arms and a central wreathed mobile swastika, with crossed swords piercing the centre of the cross, the reverse with a barrel hinge and vertical pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 47. 25 mm (w) x 46. 64 mm (h), weighing 20. 3 grams, in better than very fine condition.
